Jewish Film Institute Awards Completion Grants to Six Independent Films

“The Jewish Film Institute has named six independent films as winners of its fourth annual JFI completion grants. The grants, totaling $85,000, are awarded to projects that underline diverse stories about Jewish identity and experience….Elan Golod’s “Nathan-ism” was awarded with the 2023 Albert and Judith Goldberg Award for Jewish Arts and Culture” at the 2023 San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.”

Netflix announces release date for Anna Nicole Smith: You Don't Know Me

The streamer released its first spot Monday for Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, set to debut May 16. Featuring never-before-seen footage, home videos and interviews, the film will document Smith’s life, from her Houston upbringing to her rise to fame that included the cover of Playboy, modeling for Guess and appearing in such Hollywood projects as the 1994 film Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult and E! series The Anna Nicole Show. Smith died of an accidental drug overdose in February 2007 at age 39.

Little Richard Documentary Commissioned by CNN Films, HBO Max

'Little Richard: I Am Everything' is set to be directed by Lisa Cortés

The film, currently titled Little Richard: I Am Everything, is set to chart the extraordinary life and times of the flamboyant bouffant-haired rock singer, songwriter and pianist, who died in May 2020 at the age of 87. In a music career that spanned seven decades, the artist, who described himself as “the architect of rock ‘n’ roll,” topped the charts with songs like “Tutti Frutti” and “Long Tall Sally” and electrified audiences with his stage performances, paving the way for countless major acts including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and James Brown.

Additional producers for the film include Liz Yale Marsh and Mike Powers as executive producers; Caryn Capotosto, producer; and Rolling Stone executive producers Gus Wenner and Jason Fine. CNN Films and HBO Max are executive producers for the film.
